What does it entail?

Two or more classes from a selected school, which means teachers and pupils, work for quite some time with a partner school in Switzerland or abroad. The participants can mutually visit each other, although it’s not obligatory. The teachers collaborate as well as the students, in an individual manner, by groups or by twinning up the classes.

How to proceed?

Primo, it’s not difficult.

Secundo, we can obtain help from many sides.

Tertio there are a few practical suggestions that allow the exchange to be successful.

WHAT SHOULD WE KNOW?
 
Points to think about before starting an exchange project :
 
* There exists no recipe for exchanges
Every teacher, every class, every school has their own distinct idea about exchanging and begin with different preconceived ideas. This makes the exchange even more passionate because that allows to teach and to learn in a manner much more creative and passionate.

* The temporary material and organization investment is relatively important.
That is why it is recommended to plan in advance an exchange. You must count at least one year for the complete realization of the project.

* Research of a partner school in the language regions or in particular countries, demands time and patience.
We will gladly help you. But try and use all the personal contacts possible that you know, as it will make it much quicker!

* Everybody must get involved in the exchange project :
the teachers, the students and the parents.
Therefore it is best to inform everyone concerned early enough, so as to collaborate together right from the beginning.
 
AND IN CONCRETE TERMS?

Even though there exists no recipes pour exchanges …. here are 10 steps that allow the success!

  1. Inform and motivate the students.
  2. Formulate the goals of the exchange.
  3. Inform the parents, the teachers’ assembly, the school management and the school committee.
  4. Establish a general plan of the exchange project.
  5. Search for the exchange partner.
  6. Define the type of exchange (eventually the exchange of the teachers, with or without meetings, full classes, half classes, student groups, by rotation, individual students, during the school year, overflowing into the holidays, etc.).
  7. Evaluate the costs and look for the funds.
  8. Organize the contacts between teachers, students and classes.
  9. Bring about an eventual meeting between students and classes.
  10. Evaluate the exchange project.
