WHAT IS A CLASS EXCHANGE? [back]

Two or more classes from a selected school, which means teachers and students, work for quite some time with a partner school in Switzerland or abroad. The participants can mutually visit each other, although its not obligatory. The teachers collaborate as well as the students, in an individual manner, by groups or by twinning up the classes.

The meeting can involve entire classes, half classes or student groups.

Order our  publications, you will find all the important details about class exchange.

  • STUDENT GROUPS
It involves more often than not an exchange of students that can freely volunteer for this experience. A popular variant is the exchange by rotation ("rolling exchange"). In this case, all the students of a class participate in principle to the exchange, but they go in small groups of 2-4 students to the partner school. They follow the normal school program and live with the family of their partner exchange.
In return, their class also welcomes a small group of students from the partner school. The teachers who are concerned, remain in their own school, so that normal teaching can continue as usual.

  • EXCHANGE AS A SCHOOL ESTABLISHMENT PROJECT.
The exchange project concerns a number of classes, or even all the classes in a school. This is only possible in the frame of a partnership between schools, communes and others. Often, these sorts of projects are associated by a week concentrated on themes or a number of particular themes that correspond to the plans of the school studies, to the curriculum, to the school profile, etc..
