The first "European Heritage Classes" were launched by the European Council at the beginning of the
1980s.
Its objective was to bring
into contact youths from different cultures, by allowing them to discover
the cultural heritage of their region and also of their European partners.
Since 1995 ch Youth Exchange is used as an intermediary to promote
this program in Switzerland.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
All Swiss classes can be
involved, without any age distinction.
WHAT ARE THEIR AIMS?
"European Heritage Classes"
are based principally on teaching and learning skills, research and partnership.
The principal objectives are summed up as such :
-
to increase the students awareness
of their cultural heritage in all its wealth.
-
to discover Europe and its multi-cultures
and all the resources it brings, the differences and the common points,
tolerance and experience.
WHAT ARE THE THEMES?
The idea of heritage is extremely
vast and rich : archeology, history, urban development, architecture, fine
art school, applied arts, music, literature, everyday ideas etc.
If the list seems limited
to you, then you are free to suggest supplementary subjects .
WHERE DO WE FIND OUR PARTNER
SCHOOLS ?
The inventory of partners
is spread around the 47 countries, known by the European Council on cultural
subjects.
